Privacy
Estimate US is a small tool for estimating work together. This page explains, in plain language, what information it handles.
What we store
- Rooms: the room name you enter and a room code.
- Participant names: the display name you type when you join. It is shown to the room owner. Other participants don't see it.
- Votes: your vote is visible only to you and, after the owner reveals votes, to the room owner. It is held in the server's memory for the current round only.
- Saved estimates: when an owner saves an estimate, we store the story title, the final estimate and the vote breakdown, including the names of who voted for each value. Only the room owner can see the breakdown.
Please don't enter sensitive personal information in room names, story titles or display names.
What is kept in your browser
To let you rejoin a room after closing a tab, your browser stores a small amount of data in local storage: a random participant ID, the name you used, your light or dark theme choice and, for room owners, a secret owner token. This is needed for the site to work. We don't use it to track you, and we don't set advertising cookies.
Visit statistics
We use privacy-friendly analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. These statistics are aggregated, and they don't use cookies or follow you around the web.
Hosting
The site runs on a server hosted by Oracle Cloud in the UK. As with any website, the hosting and web server may process technical information such as IP addresses to deliver pages and keep the service secure.
How long we keep data
Saved estimates stay in their room until the owner deletes them. Owners can edit or delete individual estimates in the estimate table. Live vote data is cleared when a round ends or the server restarts.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, for example to have a room and all its saved estimates removed. Email reachmemeeran@gmail.com with the room code and we'll deal with it.
Sharing
We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers. Data is shared only with the service providers needed to run the site (hosting and analytics), or where the law requires it.
Changes
If this page changes, we'll update the date at the top.
